Economy & Sweep Picking Exercise

This a new exercise that I've been working on recently, and getting some good results with.

We're starting off half way through the pattern of a G Major scale, and then sweeping back up into the next position and continuing from there. If you know all the patterns you can continue all the way along the neck to your hearts content.

As always, you should play the red positions with an upstroke, and black positions with a downstroke.

We can make this a little bit harder by incorporating some of my favourite Economy Picking exercise into the first half of the lick, instead of just playing straight through the scale. The idea behind this exercise is to keep the picking hand changing direction as much as possible, and working towards having a smooth transition between economy picking runs and sweep picking arpeggios.
