The Pentatonic Scale.
The word pentatonic literally means five (from pent) note (from tone), and the pentatonic scale consists of five notes; the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 7th of the minor scale.
For example; in the key of A minor, the notes of the pentatonic scale are;
A (1st), C (3rd), D (4th), E (5th), G (7th)
The finger pattern for the pentatonic scale is as follows;
In this example, we are playing the F# Pentatonic scale, starting at the 2nd fret of the 6th (low E) string.
Black Notes: These positions should be fretted with the first finger.
Blue Notes: position should be fretted with the second finger.
Green Notes: These positions should be fretted with the third finger.
White Notes: These positions should be fretted with the fourth finger.
